ASB Exec Election 2026-2027

Meet the candidates

President

ANGELA KIM / 11

  • Cupertino High School is a place where hundreds of students are able to make meaningful connections with peers who have similar interests, values, and goals as them. I strongly believe that anyone can find their personal place and identity at Cupertino High School, whether that is through academics, programs, athletics, relationships with teachers, or friendships, and I think that it is truly inspiring to be able to witness such passion and dedication within a group of individuals. What makes Cupertino unique lies within the environment of students who continuously support each other, challenge themselves and their peers, and overall strive to make a positive difference within their school and community.

  • Under my leadership within the Executive team, ASB would further encourage stronger school spirit and increase student engagement. I want to help create events that are not only well-organized, but truly memorable for the student body. Additionally, I want to continue the notion that ASB is a space where student voices are valued and new ideas are always welcome. As ASB President, I would prioritize listening to student concerns and thoughtfully considering them when making decisions. In this role, I aim to take risks to create an even more diverse, inclusive, and enjoyable environment at CHS, but also encourage ASB to step outside of its comfort zone, in whatever capacity that might be.

  • I believe that I am the right person to serve in this position because I bring both experience and genuine passion for building an inclusive and spirited school community at Cupertino. Through my previous leadership roles, including my current position as Vice President of the Class of 2027, I have learned how to listen to students’ voices, collaborate with others, and turn ideas into meaningful action. Though I have been successful in these roles, I have also made many mistakes, each one teaching me how to improve my communication skills, plan events more thoughtfully, and become a stronger leader. These experiences have strengthened my confidence in my abilities to be a responsible, supportive, and excited leader representing CHS.

President

ASHLEY QI / 11

  • Above all, CHS is unique because of our incredible work hard, play hard mentality that extends to absolutely everything we do. Whether it’s cheering our lungs out at homecoming or pushing ourselves to chase after exciting new opportunities, we’ve crafted a community of truly inspiring students. We’re able to form meaningful connections across an enormous variety of backgrounds and interests, which further highlights how remarkable Tino is. I hope to build on that incredible drive as ASB President by further supporting student ideas, and ensuring that CHS remains a place where everyone feels empowered to pursue their passions and bring their ideas to life.

  • I’m a firm believer that leadership, above all, is about service. By using my prior experience leading in ASB, student council, and a variety of other CHS organizations and initiatives, I hope to enhance CHS’s existing strengths while also ensuring student feedback is transformed into meaningful action. Students often feel that ASB falls short on its promises, or that it doesn’t accurately reflect what they hope to see changed in our community. Under my leadership, I vow to hold all of ASB accountable, strengthen communication between students and representatives, and ensure that students’ ideas are truly given an honest platform. Students already have all the ideas — my goal is to make sure ASB listens and follows through.

  • With my blend of experience, clear vision, and effective leadership, I’m deeply prepared to serve as ASB President. As current Class President, I’ve learned how best to navigate all the ups and downs of ASB, lead through challenges, and follow through on commitments. Beyond ASB, I’m an active member of the CHS community, and have gained leadership experience through activities like mock trial, UNICEF, and The Prospector! Outside of my qualifications, I’m genuinely excited to connect with students across campus! I can’t wait to hear all of your ideas, perspectives, and get to know the CHS student body on an even deeper level. If elected, I promise to dedicate 110% effort into building the CHS that YOU want to see.

Vice-President

ISABEL XIONG / 10

  • Cupertino High School is unique because of our driven and diverse student body, as well as our sense of community. The variety of clubs and activities creates a million different opportunities, from academic programs to fun activities. And even with our competitive environment, Tino still has a fun atmosphere, with people screaming their lungs out when Dhadkan performs and laughing with their friends at movie nights. I remember entering high school as a terrified freshman and being amazed by how supportive and involved everyone was.

  • I originally ran for Student Council because I wanted to be more involved at Tino. I love the feeling of cheering at rallies or playing games, knowing that I helped orchestrate them. But I found that the most rewarding part has been taking your ideas and making them happen. However, a lot of great ideas are quickly shut down because of a lack of resources or stagnant norms. As ASB VP, I hope to change this by working with higher-ups to build the support needed to make the "impossible" possible. Throughout this next week, I plan to turn your ideas into concrete goals, and follow through.

  • I'm prepared to serve as ASB VP because through my two years as 2028's Class President, I have developed the planning, communication, and organizational skills necessary to delegate tasks and find alternatives after setbacks. For example, when planning Springfest, we had to work through challenges with supervision, food logistics, and rain. Not only am I committed to representing your ideas, but I also have the time and dedication needed to actually implement meaningful changes. I'm open to new ideas, value student feedback, and look forward to learning more about you throughout the next week!

Treasurer

ELI GOODMAN / 11

  • Without the people in it, CHS lacks what makes it special. I’ve seen our community accept everyone time and time again – and that environment is what makes our school unique. The spirit that we bring to each and every activity and the pure excitement that can be seen during rallies truly highlights what a special place has been crafted here – built off of our connections with each other.

  • At the end of the day, Treasurer is an enabling job – the goal of which being to support the ASB class in their visions for the 26-27 school year. My goal as Treasurer is to both increase the efficiency and ability of ASB and campus organizations to enact their plans which make CHS such an enriching environment. By increasing usage of Square & tap to pay methods, while upholding the current practices of ASB, this goal is immensely within reach for the coming year.

  • Throughout the past three years, I’ve gained experience through a variety of positions that ultimately prepare me for Treasurer. As the President and Membership VP of my local United Synagogue Youth (USY) chapter, I’ve learned how to successfully organize both events and monetary spending, as well as how to effectively orchestrate a team effort towards our chapter’s goals. In speech & debate, my communication and critical thinking skills have been strengthened, further enabling me to lead well in team environments. These experiences, along with my consistent involvement in CHS as a whole, make me the ideal candidate for Treasurer.

Secretary

Jarett Poon / 11

  • Cupertino High School is unique because of its diverse range of opportunities and individuals that it comprises. In this school, no individual is limited by their ethnicity nor characteristics, which is proven through the different types of people in leadership positions on campus; whether that may be club officers, class officers, or members of the ASB class. Cupertino is an excellent example of how anyone can do anything as long as they put their heart and soul into what they do.

  • Under my leadership, I strive for the members of Cupertino High School to look at themselves, not as any student of a public school, but as someone who attends a school surrounded by opportunities, happy, energetic people, and an optimistic, uplifting community. As a member of the student council my junior year and holding and attending many school events, I've struggled with meeting people who are genuinely proud to be a student of this school. Especially with seeing how participation negatively impacts the way the future of this school looks like, I strive to bring participation and school pride to Cupertino.

  • I should be the person to serve as secretary for ASB because I am experienced, dedicated, and ready for any problem that comes my way. Not only am I currently secretary in student council, I've organized events such as JProm, a 2027 IDC event, Springfest, Holiday Func, Jingle & Mingle, two years of Homecoming, and many other events. I am an extremely spirited student who is incredibly prideful to be a part of this school and always try to make this school as enjoyable as possible by striving for the well-being and enthusiasm of the school's students.
